"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

The Freedom of Forgiveness

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32

I would say that one of the toughest things for any of us to do is to forgive another person. All we can think about is how that other person has hurt us. The unwillingness to forgive is really a very selfish thing. And eventually, if we continue to hold on to that bitterness and anger, it will begin to control every aspect of our lives. When we choose to forgive, however, that choice will set us free.

Several years ago, Mandisa, was on the hit reality show “American Idol.” When she auditioned for the show, Simon Cowell said to her, “Mandisa, you have a very beautiful face.” However, after she had walked out of the room, he made a wisecrack about her weight. The next time Mandisa was on the show, one of the executive producers looked at her and said, “If Simon Cowell said something nasty about you, we want you to tell him off.” But what Mandisa said shocked everyone. She simply walked on stage, sat down in front of Simon and said, “Simon, a lot of people want me to say a lot of things to you. But what I want to tell you, Simon, is that I forgive you. The reason I forgive you is that Jesus died so that all of my wrongs could be forgiven. I can certainly extend that same grace to you.”

Do you realize that the King of the universe sent His only Son to die on an old, rugged cross for the people that hated Him the most? Because of that, I know that, if God can forgive me for all of the boneheaded things that I have done, there is no one that I cannot forgive.

Lulu Roman said this: "When you choose to forgive, that person who so mortally wounded you no longer defines who you are; and you can allow the blood of Jesus to define who you are. That is freedom. That gives you peace of mind that nothing can give you but the blood of Jesus." There is freedom in forgiveness.

I am asking you today, if there is any situation in your life that you have refused to let go of, to please chose to take action and through the grace of God forgive that person today. However, you cannot truly forgive until you have been forgiven yourself. If you are reading this today and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord of your life, please repent of your sin and confess him as Lord before it is eternally too late for you. If you do that, He will save you today and keep you saved forever.
