"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

The Truth About Abortion

A friend shared the following story on facebook today, and I just thought I would share it with y'all.

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said:

'Doctor, I have a serious pr...oblem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 year old and I'm pregnant again. I don't want kids so close together.

So the doctor said: 'Ok and what do you want me to do?'

She said: 'I want you to end my pregnancy, and I'm counting on your help with this.'

The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: 'I think I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you too.'

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.

Then he continued: 'You see, in order for you not to have to take care 2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.

The lady was horrified and said: 'No doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child!

'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But you seemed to be OK with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.'

The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point.

He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that's already been born and one that's still in the womb.

The crime is the same!

If you agree, please SHARE. Together we can help save precious lives!

"Love says I sacrifice myself for the good of the other person. Abortion says I sacrifice the other person for the good of myself..."

Jesus sacrificed Himself for the good of sinners! That's perfect love!

Doing Something in Jesus’ Name Doesn’t Make You His

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Matthew 7:22-23

No doubt there are many here today that grew up in Christian homes and at some point professed to be Christians themselves; however, they no longer believe. I also have no doubt that there are some here today that still claim to believe, but one day you will die and split Hell wide open. Friend, if you fit into one of those two categories, this post is for you. Just because you do something in Jesus’ name does not mean that you are His.

I grew up in a Christian home, went to church every Sunday, and even believed in the reality of Jesus; but I was far from a Christian. You see, I had yet to repent and trust in Jesus alone to save me. It wasn’t until I was almost twelve years old that I realized that I indeed was a sinner in need of a Savior and that I needed to repent of my sin and trust in Him

Maybe you are here today and you still need to transfer your trust. Or maybe there is some sin in your life that you failed to leave behind. You see, coming to Jesus means laying it all down and following after Him. Have you done that? If not, you need to do that today. Please, do not wait until it is eternally too late for you to realize that you need Him.

If you have yet to come to Jesus for mercy and forgiveness, you can do that today. All you have to do to be saved is to repent completely of all sin and trust Jesus Christ alone to save you. If you do that, I promise He will save you today and keep you saved forever.

The Ultimate Payday

For the wages of sin is death;
But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23

If you have a job of any kind, I am sure you always look forward to payday—the day your wages for a week’s worth of hard work are paid to you. Well, the Bible tells us that there is going to be an ultimate payday at the end of each of our lives. That will be the day that we will receive our wages according to how we lived our lives upon this earth. If we lived righteously, the Bible promises that we will receive life; however, if we lived sinfully, the Bible promises that we will receive death.

You see, the Bible says that the pleasures of sin will only last for a season. At the end of that season you will receive your just reward, but I promise you will not want it. Do not think that you will be happy in Hell because all of your friends will be there, because that is simply not so. Jesus said that the rich man begged Abraham to send someone to warn his family. Trust me; you do not want the gift that sin will provide.

There is another side to the story, however—a glorious side. The Bible promises everlasting life to all those who place their trust in Him. Please, if you have yet to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, do so today. If you will simply turn from all sin and trust in Christ alone to save you, He will save you today and keep you saved forever!

Proof of the Reality of God: Day 4

This is the fourth and final day of our journey through only a few of the absolute proofs of the Bible. My prayer is that you have realized how scientifically accurate the Bible really is. As you read this excerpt from Adrian Rogers's devotional What Every Christian Ought to Know, please pay close attention to the second paragraph.

As long as he has the infection; he is unclean.
He must live alone in a place outside the camp.
Leviticus 13:46

During what came to be known as the "black plague" of the fourteenth century, one out of every four people in Europe died. They didn't know what to do with it. They couldn't control it. They had no concept of microbiology like we have now. Do you know what finally brought the plague to an end? The Bible! They learned to quarantine from the Word of God.
I have only touched the surface over the past few days of the many medical and scientific truths obtained in the Bible. Frankly, I'm glad the Bible and modern science don't always agree. Science changes. The Bible--never!

Proof of the Reality of God: Day 3

Before we continue on our journey through this series on the "proof of the reality of God," I would like to share something with you. Saturday, at the end of his comment on my post "The Man Behind the Quotes (Re-Post)," Daniel wrote these kind words:
If you continue following Rogers' book or any other material from him as any kind of proof of anything after this, even knowing he is a lier, then you, Tommy, are a fully deluded person, somebody that is unable to recognize the truth but instead a person committed to blindly follow other person false teachings.

If that is the case, I am fully disappointed from you, and I will stop reading your blog or trying to dialog with you, because the time I am expending in that is not worth of it.
Daniel's comment was referring to the excerpt that I posted from Adrian Rogers's devotional What Every Christian Ought to Know, in which Daniel accused Adrian Rogers of lying about the translation of the word "circle" in Isaiah 40:22. You can also see that he plainly warned me that, if I continued to quote from Adrian Rogers, he would no longer read this blog. However, I refuse to heed his warning.

You see, I believe Daniel only said what he said because he knows that Adrian Rogers was a man of honesty and integrity and the his devotional book that I have been quoting from contains the Gospel truth. I believe that Daniel only said the things that he said because he is already being convicted by the Holy Spirit and knows without a doubt that God's Word is true. My prayer is that he would continue to be under conviction as he continues to read what Adrian Rogers had to say about the inerrancy of the Word of God and that he would leave his sin far behind and come to Jesus before it is eternally too late for him.

The life of every creature is in its blood.
Leviticus 17:14

A little known fact is how George Washington, the father of our country, died. He was sick, so the physicians bled him. When he didn't get well, they bled him again. When he still didn't get well, the bled him a third time. Without realizing it, they bled him to death!...

Today, rather than removing what they thought to be his "bad blood," they might have given him a blood transfusion. That would have been in keeping with what God had said long before: "The life of every creature is in its blood."

I apologize for posting so late. It really wouldn't hurt for me to learn how to better manage my time.

The Man Behind the Quotes (Re-Post)

I posted this particular video once before; but since I have been taking quotes from Adrian Rogers's devotional book Things Every Christian Ought to Know, I thought it important to post it one more time for those that did not get a chance to watch it the first time. In my estimation, Adrian Rogers was the greatest preacher of his time. There is certainly no other preacher of the Gospel that I trust and respect more than this man.

Proof of the Reality of God: Day 2

God is enthroned above the circle of the earth.
Isaiah 40:22

Another scientific fact we take quite for granted is that the Earth is round. Do we know this from natural observation? Not at all. But we've seen pictures from outer space, so we know beyond a doubt that the Earth is round. Even as late as 1492, however, when "Columbus sailed the ocean blue," people did not know this. They warned him to be careful, fearing that he might sail off the edge of the Earth on his travels.
Yet Isaiah, in 750 BC, talked about the "circle" of the Earth, using a Hebrew word meaning "globe" or "sphere." Long before man knew it scientifically, God had already revealed it.
This series on the "Proof of the Reality of God" will continue on Monday, April 11. Praying everyone has a great weekend!

Proof of the Reality of God: Day 1

The truth of the Bible is not only revealed to those who believe, but it is also one hundred percent historically and scientifically accurate. This is the main area that we will be focusing on over the next few days. I need to confess something to you, though. The following Bible truths will not be coming directly from me. I have a devotional book written by Adrian Rogers that explains this area very well. I like the way that he explained it, so I decided that I would copy it word for word, as Adrian Rogers wrote it. This particular devotional is entitled What Every Christian Ought to Know. I hope that is not too disappointing for you to hear.

Day 1

He stretches the northern skies over empty space;
He hangs the earth on nothing.
Job 26:7

Ancient cultures did not always know that the Earth was suspended in space. The ancient Egyptians believed it was supported by pillars. The ancient Greeks thought it was carried by Atlas. The Hindus held that it was resting on the backs of gigantic elephants, who were standing on a tortoise, who was standing on a coiled serpent swimming in a cosmic sea.

So how did Job—whose book that bears his name is perhaps the oldest piece of literature known to man—understand that the Earth is hanging “on nothing”? He could only have known through divine inspiration.

Many Will Hear, Few Will Listen

After writing a post last week entitled “A Challenge for Atheists,” in which I asked the question, “If you had absolute proof that God is real…would you be willing to turn completely from your sin and trust Jesus Christ as Lord,” I received a comment challenging me to provide absolute proof that God does indeed exist. So over the next few days or so, we will be discussing some verses of Scripture that very much prove their own accuracy.

There is one major issue in doing this, however. That is the fact that very few people will truly listen to what I and the Bible have to say. I can unfortunately say that with confidence because Matthew 7:14 says, “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” I have been hearing atheists use the word “presupposition” a lot lately. They say that Christians refuse to hear the atheists’ side because they have a presupposition that atheism and evolution are wrong. Well, it works the other way around, too.

Atheists—as well as other nonbelievers—refuse to listen to what the Bible has to say because they love their sin; therefore, they automatically say that the Bible is false and there is no God. Although the Bible does say that “the fool hath said in his heart there is no God,” the atheist is by no means dumb. He realizes that, if God does exist, he is in big trouble; therefore, to try and keep himself out of trouble and to hold on to his sin, he goes into denial and denies God’s existence.

I know that very, very few atheists will listen to me because they have already decided not to listen before they even know what I am going to say. So I would like to urge all of those, who have already decided that my proof is no proof at all, to please take off the blindfold of sin and truly see the truth of God’s Word and the condition of your own heart. If I did not care about you, I would not be taking the time to write this. And because I care about you, I want you to know Him and be washed in His blood that has the power to make you whiter than snow.

Why Atheists Hate the Word of God

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (Emphasis added.)

I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have heard atheists say that God’s Word is not infallible proof of His existence. The lost hate the Bible. Over the years, countless people have tried to destroy it. Some atheistic rulers have declared it illegal. And countless believers have been ridiculed, tortured, and even murdered for preaching what it says. If this Book were just like any other book, filled with made-up tales, then why has it always been so despised by those who do not believe it? The Bible is hated because it is true and because it condemns what this world loves—sin.

Adrian Rogers said, “I read other books, but the Bible reads me.” I would dare say I have never personally met the majority of the people who read this blog. I have no idea what your person life is like, but God does. And when I quote His Word, you cringe because His Word has just exposed you for who you really are and your conscience is now telling you that you need to get right with Him.

John 3:19 says, “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” The self-righteous religious leaders of Jesus’ day hated Him because He exposed them for who they really were—sinners in need of a Savior. He was ultimately put to death on the cross for proclaiming to be the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

No, the Bible is not hated because it is not true; the Bible is hated because it is the ultimate truth and has the power to expose the lost for who they really are. Please, you know that you know what I am saying is true; listen to your conscience and come to Jesus before it is eternally too late for you. All you have to do is repent—turn completely from all sin—and trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you, and He will save you today and keep you saved forever.

Surprising Apology

What I am about to say I have no doubt will surprise many. I know this because it surprises me that I would write such a thing. However, as hard as it is for me to do, I know that I must do it. I am apologizing for requiring that all names referring to God, the Bible, and Christianity be capitalized; and I will immediately delete that requirement as soon as this is posted.

After much thought and prayer about this issue, I have come to the conclusion that it was indeed unfair for me to require nonbelievers to capitalize such names. The particular atheist, Daniel, who suggested to me that such requirements are not biblical, is indeed correct. It is not a sin not to capitalize the names of God; therefore, I have no reason to require anyone to capitalize them. I was simply making a rule based upon a personal conviction; and I was wrong to do that.

In fact, making such a require was defeating the purpose of this blog--to win souls to Jesus Christ. I care a great deal for the readers of this blog, and want more than anything for each one to love Him as I love Him. However, attempting to force people to respect Someone they do not know will never make that happen.

I would also like to publicly apologize to Daniel. I forced him to resubmit his comment with the correct capitalization. I assumed that, because I did so, he would not resubmit his comment and that he would stop reading this blog altogether. However, when I logged in today, I saw that he had indeed resubmitted his comment with the correct capitalization.I underestimated you, Daniel, and I would like to apologize to you for that. I pray that you would continue reading this blog and that we could learn from each other.
