"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

David Wilkerson’s “Call to Anguish”

Last Wednesday the late Rev. David Wilkerson was tragically killed in a car crash. I must say that I had never heard of David Wilkerson until that day. However, in this week’s newsletter from Living Waters, Ray comfort wrote an article about how David Wilkerson had impacted his life. As I read that article, I began to realize what an influential man of God this man truly was. I saw that even more so when I found the following video on YouTube.

I believe that there is no greater message that American needs to hear in the days in which we are now living than the message contained in the video below. I am so proud to be a part of this great country. I believe that even today the United States of America is the greatest country on earth. However, I marvel at the thought of what this nation could be if we the people would truly anguish over the things that anguish God. Luke 19:41 says, “Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it…” That verse may not mean much to you, but I unfortunately have no doubt that there is no better description of how Almighty God feels about the country in which we live.

This nation has denied the God of its forefathers. We have taken Him out of our schools. We have attempted to take His name out of the Pledge of Allegiance. We have attempted to take His name off of our money. We as a nation have pushed God, the King of the Universe, out of our lives, and we just keep pushing. And the more we push, the less God will resist.

A wise man once said that “your greatest fear should not be that God would lay His hand on you, but that He would take His hand off of you.” So far God has had His hand on this nation. God has richly blessed America. However, I would not be surprised if one day we pushed God away and He resisted no more.

I admit to you that I am not the prayer warrior that I ought to be for this nation. I also know, however, that there is a healing for America; but it will only come when this nation falls to her knees and grieves over the things that grieve God. David Wilkerson was right; this country needs a call to anguish.

Billy Graham once prayed,

“Heavenly Father, we come before You today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.”

I urge you today to please take the things of God seriously. Honor His Word. See the sin of this nation and weep over it. See the sin in your own life and weep over it, too. Repent of your lack of anguish and concern. Get right with God today. If you don’t know Him, you can. In order to have revival in this nation, we first must have revival in our own lives. It is not too late, but time is running out. Please make sure you are in a right relationship with Him before it is eternally too late for you.
