The Atheist Experience
"There Is None That Seeketh After God"
If you want to know God—I mean really know Him—you must do away with all sin. That, my friend, is what we call repentance. On this blog, I do not try to convince people that God is real because I am already convinced that everyone already knows that; I simply show people how they can have a right relationship with Him. And in order to have a right relationship with Almighty God, you must turn from your sin and follow after Him.

“There Is None So Blind as He Who Will Not See”
The other night I found a video clip on YouTube of Mark Lowry. In that clip he made a very interesting and true statement. He said, “I would be an atheist too, if I had that much faith.” I always marvel at how atheists ridicule us Christians for professing faith in the Lord Jesus, yet they have to have a lot more faith than we do to believe in evolution. Atheists actually believe that nothing created everything; that is much harder to believe than God created the universe.
You see, Mr. Coyote, you asked for evidence; I have a whole world full of evidence. Romans 1:20 says, “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.” The Bible says that you are without excuse because you have seen the evidence of God’s existence in creation.
I don’t know if you have picked up on this yet, but creationists have something going for them that evolutionists don’t. There are no missing parts to creationism. However, there is one huge part of evolutionism that can never be found. That missing part is an example of something evolving into another thing.
Birds are born as birds. Cats are born as cats. Monkeys are born as monkeys. Humans are born as humans. When is the last time that a zookeeper has shown up for work to find out that what was a monkey the day before is now a human? The truth is it has never happened and it never will. If the universe evolved, why did it all of a sudden stop evolving? If evolution is a fact of life, why is it not still happening?
If you came into my house and saw the oil painting that is on my living room wall and I told you that it started out a hundred years ago as one splotch of black paint in the middle of a paper napkin, you would have reason to think that I was a lunatic. There is a reason Psalm 14:1 says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” Saying that the universe evolved out of nothing is like saying that a complex oil painting evolved out of one tiny dot of ink on a paper napkin; it is preposterous. The complexity of the work says that it was carefully and painstakingly made. You, my friend, are fearfully and wonderfully made; act like it (Psalm 139:14).
You are the one that needs to open up his eyes and truly see. Years ago a secular songwriter wrote, “I see skies of blue…clouds of white/ Bright blessed days…dark sacred nights/ And I think to myself…what a wonderful world.” Please, take off the blindfold of sin and look at all the blessings that God has given you.
God loves this wretched, old world so much that He sent His one and only Son to die on an old, rugged cross for you and me. Isaiah 53:5 says that “He was wounded for [your] transgressions…and with His stripes [you can be] healed.” Please turn from all sin and trust Jesus as Lord of your life today. I promise it will be the best decision you ever make.

He Doesn't See It As Exploitation (2/25/2011)
Luke 16:19-28
There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Not too long ago, Ray Comfort wrote a blog post about a man whom he knew who was an atheist. This particular man was tragically killed when he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in the street. Ray’s overall point in writing that post was to warn people not to overestimate their time upon this earth. In doing so, Ray was accused of exploiting the situation in order to promote Christianity. You may also feel that this was an issue of exploitation; however, I beg to differ.
The above story taken from Luke 16:19-28 says it all. Many may believe this to be a parable; however, I believe it to be a true story. In this particular situation, both Lazarus—the beggar—and the rich man die. Lazarus goes to Heaven, and the rich man ends up in Hell. Upon realization of where he is, the rich man begs Abraham to send Lazarus to inform the man’s five brothers of where he is, that they might not end up there also.
I am sure the rich man was just like many of you and thought that he would never end up in Hell; therefore, he knew that his brothers felt the same way and needed to be told the truth. (By the way, this proves that those that go to Hell really don’t want to be with their friends.) So he pleaded with Abraham to send Lazarus to tell them. However, Abraham responded by saying, “If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead” (Luke 16:31).
The rich man’s concern for his loved ones not only backs up the title of this post, but Abraham’s response proves your need to hear what I am saying today. The Bible tells us that what Ray did was indeed not exploitation. If those who have gone before you could speak to you today, they would tell you to place your trust in Jesus Christ before it is eternally too late for you. But since they cannot plead with you, I will.
Please, if you do not know Jesus as Lord today, come to know Him before it is eternally too late for you. Admit that you are a sinner in need of a Savior, and repent of all sin and place your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to save you. You’ll be forever glad you did!

Attacked by the Media (2/23/2011)
I don’t know much about this particular movie because, quite frankly, I don’t want to know about it. However, from what I gathered from the commercial, it is about three men who are unhappy with their marriages so their wives give them a “week off from marriage.” The whole theme of this movie not only attacks fidelity, but it attacks marriage altogether. All throughout the history of television, we have seen marriage portrayed as a prison. The media tells us that we have to be committed because we are married. However, the Bible doesn’t teach that we have to; the Bible teaches that we get to. The Bible tells us that it is a privilege to serve and to love our spouse.
Hollywood teaches that young people should play the field—“Don’t throw your life away; there are plenty of fish in the sea.” That’s funny because I can’t find that anywhere in God’s Word. God gave Adam Eve because God knew that Adam couldn’t make it alone. Two heads really are better than one. Therefore we gain life through marriage; not lose it.
When the Christian-based movie Fireproof came out in 2008, marriages were restored and homes were healed. However, I predict the exact opposite result from this movie. I foresee homes being torn apart, lives of innocent children being scarred by divorce. You may think I am overreacting, but I certainly don’t. And I know God doesn’t think I am. You see, this isn’t merely a movie; this is a war. Satan knows that, if he can wreak havoc in the home, he can destroy our nation.
Infidelity has become a virtue. You don’t believe me? Go watch Sister Wives. Hollywood says that it doesn’t matter what kind of home a child is raised in as long as that child is happy. There’s one problem with that—God doesn’t create children to be happy; He creates them to be holy. Not too long ago, a movie came out entitled The Kids Are Alright. That movie is about two lesbians who “successfully” raised a so-called family. And as this garbage continues in this nation, this nation will continue to crumble.
We as Christians must fall to our knees and thank God for our families, and dedicate our families to Him. And we must pray for this country, that one by one lives would be made new by His redeeming love. But remember that it starts with you. We as individuals must abstain from all evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22), seeking God’s hand on our lives. Adrian Rogers wisely said that our greatest fear ought not to be that God would put His hand on us, but that God would take His hand off. Look through the Bible and you will find that, every time it is said that “God gave them up” or “God gave them over,” it was because of this sin—marital unfaithfulness. Without homes on fire for God, America cannot and will not survive.
More Than Enough (2/22/2011)
I was reminded of the above verse while listening to one of Adrian Rogers's messages yesterday afternoon. It reminds me of an analogy I've heard Dr. Rogers use several times before. It concerns keeping God's commandments. John 14:15 says, "If you love Me, keep My commandments." I used to think that I couldn't say that I loved God when I stumbled and fell. That is simply not so.
The following is part of Dr. Rogers's analogy: "Early sailors did not have global positioning satellites and radio signals to guide them, yet they sailed over the trackless seas by keeping their eyes on the heavens. They called this 'keeping the stars.'" This is exactly what Jesus meant when He said, "Keep my commandments."
This is the best way I know of to really tell if someone has truly been born again: do they love God's Word; are they allowing His truth to guide every step of their life? This takes us to the below video. When we choose to get off track and to look to something other than God Himself, what we are essentially saying is, "God, You are not enough for me."
Let me challenge you this week to wake up everyday and say, "God, You are enough for me." When you go to bed, say, "God, You are enough." And every moment in between remind yourself that He is indeed more than enough for you. Then, at the end of this week, come back and comment on this post to let me know how God impacted your life this week.

Bringing You Out Until He Takes You In (1/31/2011)
This is just a short, little thought that I had yesterday that I wanted to share with you today. Yesterday night I was thinking about this verse along with some of the things God has brought me out of over the years, and I said quietly to the Lord, "You have brought me out in the past, and You are going to continue bringing me out until You ultimately take me out of this world and into Heaven to be with You for all eternity."
Is that not a comforting thought? I know that there have been many times in my life that I just thought I could not make it. But then God heard my prayer, stepped in, and brought me out of that situation. As you go throughout your day today, keep in mind 1 John 4:4, which says, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
Nothing Good to Say? (1/30/2011)
The topic of his message was "Overcoming Temptation" (my paraphrase). I guess I can somewhat see why he though what he said was true, but his statement was still overwhelmingly false. I would rather hear a message on overcoming the evil one any day. I couldn't agree more with Adrian Rogers when he said, "God is love; Jesus is wonderful!" However, in my estimation, nothing shows the love of God more than this subject.
Years ago, the late Dottie Rambo wrote a song entitled "In the Valley." In that song, she wrote these words: "In the valley Jesus leads me/ In the valley He restoreth my soul." There is no greater love than a God who, instead of instantly taking us out, will take us by the hand and walk with us through the storm. First Corinthians 10:13 says, "But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." Now is that not a comforting thought? God will not allow you to be given more than you can handle. And He will cheer you on as you run for the door that He Himself is holding open for you.
Two thousand years ago Satan tried to defeat our Lord. He thought he killed Him. He thought that God's plan had been ruined. But three days later Jesus rose from the grave, defeating all the powers of Hell. Not only did God defeat our sin on the cross, He crushed it and tore it to pieces. "No power of Hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from His hand!" I will always welcome a message on temptation because it shows my God in all His glory.
What Heaven Means to Me (1/28/2011)
Thou Fool: Part Two (1/28/2011)
1 Corinthians 15:35-37
But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?” 36 [Thou fool], what you sow is not made alive unless it dies. 37 And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain…
What these verses are saying here is that these feeble, sin-cursed bodies are not as good as it gets; though many atheists would have us believe otherwise. God willing, I have many years ahead of me on this earth. But I will still never be able to understand why an atheist would want to be an atheist. Atheism says that, when we die, we are just placed in the ground to stay. Not so! Hallelujah! God tells us in His Word that we shall live again, and the next life will be unfathomably greater than life here on this fallen earth.
You see, atheist, every time you say, “There is no life after death,” God looks at you and says, “Thou fool!” Our tiny, powerless minds are not great enough to imagine the unimaginable; therefore we often dismiss it as imposable. God says that to do so is foolishness. I don’t know what kind of bodies we—those who have been born again—will have in Heaven. God doesn’t provide us with those details, so I refuse to even discuss that matter. Because if God doesn’t discuss it in His Word, that’s a pretty big hint that it doesn’t matter right now. But I do know that we will be made perfect. We will be sinless. We will be like Jesus!
As rich and pure as Heaven is, Hell is even more torturous and horrifying. And I tell you today that, if you have not experienced the saving power of Jesus’ blood, you will go there. Let me tell you a little bit about what the Bible says about Hell. God’s Word describes Hell as the following: “shame and everlasting contempt,” “everlasting punishment,” “weeping and gnashing of teeth,” “fire unquenchable,” “indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish,” “everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord,” “eternal fire…the blackness of darkness forever,” and there are many, many more. (If you want to know where I got these descriptions, please go to the sidebar, where it says “Are You a Good Person?” and click on the link there.) I don’t want you to go there, and God doesn’t either. Second Peter 3:9 says, “But [God] is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” God wants you to be washed in the precious blood of His dear Son, that you will not have to go to Hell but that you can go to Heaven with Him for all eternity.
Trust me when I say that trusting Jesus was the best decision I have ever made and will ever make. Jesus is my Savior, my King. He is everything to me! There is no greater feeling than to know that you are in a right relationship with God. The Bible says that the pleasures of sin will only last for a season (Hebrews 11:25). But you look through the Bible; the things of the Lord will endure forever.
At this point, I am asking—even pleading—that you give your heart, your life, your everything to the Lord Jesus Christ. Adrian Rogers said, “If Jesus is not your Lord, He is not your Savior.” To acknowledge Jesus as Lord is to lump faith and repentance into one. When you acknowledge Jesus as Lord, you are giving all of you. When you acknowledge Jesus as Lord, you are saying, “Here I am, Lord. Lead and I will follow—no matter the cost.” Adrian Rogers described his salvation experience this way: “I gave all I knew of me to all I knew of Jesus.” That’s all He asks of you, that you give all you know of you to all you know of Him. And as you learn more about yourself, you give all of that to the increasing knowledge you have of Jesus Christ. Salvation is not easy. Don’t let anyone tell you it is because, if the say that, reality is they’re not saved themselves. But it is the most valuable and priceless gift ever known to man.
Thou Fool: Part One (1/27/2011)
Luke 12:16-21
16And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
I’m sure you’ve heard it quoted many times, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God” (Psalm 53:1). Well, over the next few days, we will be looking further into why the Bible calls those who do not acknowledge God fools.
In this first situation we see a man that is consumed by the love of himself. As soon as he saw the abundance of the fruits of his labor, he began to contemplate where he could possibly put it all. I’m sure his immediate thought was something like this: “What am I going to do? If I don’t find somewhere to put it all, it will all go to waste!” Never mind the multitudes of people that I’m sure would be eternally grateful to have some his goods. Never mind what God might have him do.
Where the man made his second mistake was when he said, “And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.” His mistake was that he was greatly mistaken when he said the words “many years.” This man like many of you thought he was invincible. He thought that he could please only himself from then on and actually get away with it. He couldn’t have been more wrong!
That is when God steps in and says, “Thou fool!” Who are you to think that you know how long you have to live? Who are you to think that you are better than anyone else? Most importantly, who are you to think that you can make it without Him?
Every day you store up treasures for yourself upon this earth, never considering the God that gave you life. You call them treasures; I call them filth. You call them lovable; God calls the abominable. Each time you choose to wallow in the putridity of your own sin instead of walking in the righteousness of God, God is saying to you, “Thou fool!”
However, one day He’s not going to stop there. One day you will hear the same tragic words that the rich man heard: “This night thy soul shall be required of thee.” Rest assured that someone else that said they would never hear those words is hearing those very words right now. Please, take my advice when I say to you to come to Jesus. Leave your little world of Self behind you and fall at Jesus’ feet. He has promised that, if you will put all your trust in Him and repent completely of all sin, He will save you today and keep you saved FOREVER.
