As most of you know by now, I am a college student. Well, Tuesday morning, when I arrived for class, there were the Gideons handing out New Testaments. It may come as a surprise to you, but I have really never been that fond of the Gideons. I just have never felt that what they do really has that much impact on the lives of the lost. My thought has pretty much always been, How many people actually keep and read those Bibles anyway or Most people already have Bibles at home. If they don't read those, what makes you think their going to read this one?
However, I am pleased to announce that I was pleasantly surprised Wednesday morning. As I headed toward the door of the building where I need to go, I saw a sight very similar to the one above. A guy somewhere around my age was sitting on the ground against the wall reading his new green New Testament. My thoughts immediately went from They're fighting for a lost cause to Maybe lives really can be changed. Needless to say, the Gideons now have my full support.
I would have loved to have been able to give that guy a tract. I am now fully prepared if the opportunity comes up again. So please pray that God will allow me to cross paths with him again in the near future, and then give me the wisdom and strength I need to share the Gospel with him.
