As I'm sure most of you atheists know, each week Ray Comfort has "Atheist Church" on his blog. I will occasionally read it when I have time. Today, his message was on hiding behind the Rock of Ages (Jesus Christ). He also alluded to the fact that all atheists have been deceived by Satan himself into believing that there is no God.
Therefore, one atheist commented on the post saying, "So, Ray, God punishes those who have been fooled by someone else? Those who don't know any better?" My answer to that question is both yes and no.
First of all, let's look at the first part of the question. Yes, every atheist (and sinner--every person to ever walk the face of the earth except the Lord Jesus) has been deceived. Every time someone sins against God, they do so because they have been deceived. However, as I heard Dr. Adrian Rogers say yesterday, we are all free to choose, and we're not free not to choose. So when you, atheist, were deceived into to believing that there is no God, you actually made the decision to be deceived. See, the devil cannot deceive you without your consent.
Now let's go back to Dr. Adrian Rogers to answer the second part of the question. In one of his sermons, he said that when an atheist says there is no God, he is lying. The atheist's problem is not that he doesn't believe God is real, but that he doesn't want God to be real. The reasoning behind the atheist's belief that God isn't real all comes down to one tiny, three-letter word: sin.
The ultimate root of every atheists denial of God's existence is sin. If there's no God, then there's no one to judge you for your sinful lifestyle; therefore, you can live a life with no limitations. However, let me warn you that, even though you are free to choose your actions, you are not free to choose your consequences.
Trust me, there is no sin worth going to Hell for. Once you stand before Him there will be no turning back. Your second chance is now. Please come to Jesus before it's eternally too late for you.
