"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

The Resolution that Cannot Be Broken (1/17/2011)

This time of the year we hear a lot about these things we call "new year's resolutions." By now you have probably already made some new year's resolutions of your own. And, if we are honest, the majority of us have already broken those resolutions. That is partly because we make resolutions that can be broken. However, I want to tell you today about a resolution that cannot be broken.

This resolution concerns your eternal salvation. If you are reading this, you are most likely an atheist. That being so, you would not go to Heaven if you were to die today. If you were to die today without knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, you would spend eternity in Hell. That's not God's will. Therefore, the resolution that I am going to suggest to you was made possible. That resolution is that you come to know Jesus.

You see, we are all sinners in need of a Savior. And we are so for two reasons: (1) God is good and (2) we are criminals in His sight. If you have lied, stolen, taken God's name in vain, etc., you are guilty of sinning against the God who gave you life; therefore, you are worthy to be punished for your crimes. Many people say that because God is good He will let you free. Friend, because God is good He cannot let you free. That is why Jesus came into the picture.

Two thousand years ago God sent His Son, Jesus, to be born of a virgin, live a sinless life, and ultimately suffer and die on the cross for your sins. Second Corinthians 5:12 says, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." Jesus' death upon the cross was God's way of pouring out His wrath on all of the sins of the world, including your own. That means that you can now go free because Jesus has paid your debt for you.

Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." If you will put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and repent completely of your sins, He will save you today and keep you saved forever. John 10:27-29 says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." That's why I called it the resolution that cannot be broken. Because a man that is truly saved will never fall away from the faith, nor can anything take away what he has in the Lord Jesus. Please give your life to Him today. God will never let you down.
