"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

Are You Free? (11/20/2010)

"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." -John 8:36

This is America--"the land of the free." But are you really free? And what is true freedom in the first place? True freedom is not the right to do as you wish; true freedom is the right to do as you ought. Therefore, unless the Lord Jesus Christ has set you free, you cannot know true freedom.

Psalm 51:5 says, "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me." We are sinners from birth. We have no power over sin. In fact, we are slaves to sin if we have not been bought with the precious blood of the Lamb.

However, God loved this sinful world so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross so that you and I could know what it is to be truly free. If you don't know Jesus as Lord of your life today, you can. Whether you like it or not, you are a slave to someone; you are either a slave to the devil, or a slave to the Lord Jesus Christ. If you will place your trust in Him today, He we set you free from your sin. And because of what He has done for you, you will want to do nothing else than to follow after Him for all eternity.
