"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

What A Legacy! (7/17/2010)

This post is about one amazing couple that have left one incredible legacy. I've only known about them for a month or two, but they have already impacted my life more than they could ever know. I actually somewhat remember watching them sing on television with the Homecoming crowd when I was much, much younger. However, I never knew their names or anything about them.

YouTube is a wonderful tool (if used properly....there are many things I wish were not on there, but that's a different story). Anyway, I actually found them by clicking on a video that YouTube suggested. I became interested in the Goodmans because it was very obvious from that one video that Vestal truly believed what she was singing.

This was a couple that did what they did because they truly loved the Lord and His people. They wanted to invest in other people's lives, and worship the Lord at the same time. I honestly believe that they were two truly genuine people that were the same everywhere they went.

Another thing that really impressed me about them was their perspective on marriage. At their fiftieth anniversary celebration (which I saw on YouTube), Vestal said that she told Howard that he could leave her anytime he wanted, but when he did she was going too. Now that's what I call a marriage based on the Word of God.

Howard and Vestal went to be with the Lord several years ago, but their legacy will live on forever. I am so thankful for them and people like them that live their lives for the Lord in a way that helps draw other people closer to Him.
