"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

You Can Be Sure: My Version, Part 3

#3) Every atheist can be sure that God wants him to be saved (2 Peter 3:9).

Several months ago, I got into an "argument" with an atheist on Atheist Central that claimed God is wicked and delights in sending people to Hell. I tried to explain to him that his statement couldn't be further from the truth.

If God truly is wicked and finds joy in sending people to Hell, then why would He send His only Son to suffer and die on the cross. If God received fulfillment from sending people to Hell, I would not be writing this right now because I wouldn't be here.

No! I am here writing to you this very moment because God has a plan for my life and yours. It is not His will that any go to Hell. If you end up in Hell, it will be because you chose to live in rebellion against God.

The Bible tells us that all of Heaven rejoices when just one comes to know the Lord. I tell you that God has put me here today to tell you that there is another way. Jeremiah 29:11-13 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

When God says that He wants to prosper you, He doesn't mean that He wants to give you health, wealth, and prosperity; He simply means that He wants to fill your heart with the overwhelming joy that can only come from having a saving relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

He says in verse thirteen, "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." Friends, the truth is you can't see His presence because you haven't looked for Him--you don't want Him to be there. But that doesn't stop Him from being there. All you have to do is seek Him, and you shall find Him. And, if you will plead for mercy, He will surely give mercy and grace to you.

So be sure that God does want you to be saved. I'm telling you you can be saved today. Just transfer your trust from yourself to Jesus, and turn completely from your sin. If you do that, He will gloriously save you from your sins and He will keep you saved forever!
