"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

A Deaf and Dying World (4/12/2010)

Have you ever been talking with someone about the things of God, only to have them say, "Well, that's according to your belief"? I got this a lot in my Sociology class last semester. My teacher basically thought that we each serve our own God--that God is whoever we want Him to be. She was one of those people that thinks that we're all gonna end up in the same place anyway, so what does it matter how we get there. This type of thinking, however, is idolatry--forming a god to suite our sinful lifestyles. You will often hear someone say, "Well, my god wouldn't send anyone to Hell" or "My god would never..." Well, of course their god wouldn't do that because he's only a figment of their imagination. When you're talking with someone that has this type of attitude simply remind them of a burning building.

Say it's the middle of the night and a family of five is sound asleep in their beds. Suddenly the fire alarm goes off. The dad wakes up, stumbles into the hallway, and disconnects the alarm. His thoughts are that if he can no longer hear the alarm, the fire will disappear as well. He goes back to bed and the family is never seen again.

Horrifying story, right? Well, the truth is that happens to countless numbers of people everyday. Not with fire alarms, but with God's word. They ignore the people that care enough to share the truth with them because they think if they stop listening or believing, the reality of Heaven and Hell will disappear. This is why we need to do everything in our power to share the truth with the lost. After you finishing reading this, turn off your computer and think of at least three people you know that don't know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. Then write those names down somewhere and pray over them. Then ask God to give you the strength and the courage to put legs to your prayers.

Here's another challenge, make it your goal to give out at least one gospel tract a day. If you can't get up the courage to give it out personally, just leave it somewhere. Leave it with your tip when you go out to eat; if you go to a fast food restaurant, just leave it on the table for the next person. Or you could drop one in a rolled down window of a car in a parking lot. There's all kinds of places you can leave them. Be creative! Just make sure you do something. Everyday 150,000 people die. Christianity isn't religion, it's reality. We were created by God for God. And if that person has not turned from their sin and trusted Him as Lord and Savior, they will not go Heaven.

These sort of things are hard for me too, but we can learn together.
