"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

Imagine A World Without Religion (4/14/2010)

"Imagine, for a moment, a world where religion never existed, for whatever reason. Its citizens go about their lives having never heard of any religion. In your mind, what would the world be like -- worse, better? Why?"1.

The above comment was part of today's blog post on Atheist Central by Ray Comfort. If you want to read his response to that particular comment, you can go to Atheist Central and do so. But I thought I would give you my point of view also.

Personally, I would love a world without religion. A world without religion would be a world completely devoted to God and His Word. In a sense, all non-believers are religious. Yes, even atheism is a religion. But Christianity, however, isn't religion, but reality.

No matter how much you deny God's existence, He will always be there. No matter how much you deny the truth of His Word, it will always be true. We were created by God for God. We were created for His glory, not our own. When we turn from our sin and trust Jesus as Savior, we enter into a relationship with Almighty God. Our religion is tossed out the window and we are set free.

So, a world without religion would be a world free from the dishonesty and unbelief that has so many captive.

I think the original questioner had christianity in mind as well under the umbrella of "religion". The difference you are making is one of semantics and you miss the point entirely.

As much as I hate to say it, you're right...at least about the part where you said, "the original questioner had Christianity in mind as well under the umbrella of 'religion.'"

I'm guessing you found this blog through Atheist Central. If that is so, you probably read Ray's comment, which said, "I know Christianity is a 'religion,' and that those who trust in Jesus are labeled 'religious.' That's a cross I just have to carry--but I do it unwillingly and with great protest :)." Well, the same goes for me as well. I have been labeled as "religious" quite a few times. Although this blog focuses completely on a relationship with Almighty God, not a religion, I totally expect you to call me a religious person.

You have yet to fall on your face before God and repent of your sins and trust His Son as Lord and Savior of your life. Until you do that, you're going to see Christianity as a religion. That is because until you encounter Almighty God and and all the love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness that comes along with Him, you can't see life the way I do.

Know that I am only saying what I'm saying because I care about you and where you spend eternity. So I pray that you'll continue to read this blog. I thank you for your comment and welcome all other future comments as well.

Hope you have a great day!
