"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

Standing Up for What We Believe In (4/2/2010)

Do you know what you believe? Most importantly, do you know why you believe it? Do you believe it because that's what you've always been taught, or do you believe it because you've searched God's Word and know without a doubt that it's the absolute truth? Going to a secular school for the last several months has made me realize how important it is to know why we believe what we believe. Non-believers "defend" their arguments, so why can't we defend ours. Maybe it's because we have yet to realize how important our "beliefs" really are. (Notice I put quotes around beliefs because a normal biblical Christian is not someone who has a belief, but someone who has a relationship with the living God.) If you have yet to realize that what I put in parentheses is true, then you're definitely not going to be as concerned about defending your faith because it's only a part of your life, not your whole life. But when you realize that we were created to honor and glorify God, you are more than willing to stand up for what you believe in because you know that it is the absolute truth. So the next time someone (no matter it may be) says something that goes against God's Word, don't be afraid to tell them that you disagree with them and why. I admit this is something that I need to work on too.

Hope everybody has a great weekend!
