"The key to understanding the Bible is to look for Jesus in the Bible. Jesus is the hero of the Bible. If you read the Bible and don't find Jesus, re-read it! The Bible has one hero, His name is Jesus; one villain, that is Satan; one problem, that is sin; one solution, that is salvation. That is what the Bible is all about." -Dr. Adrian Rogers

Why Do You Live the Way You Do? (5/23/2010)

Have you ever questioned why you do some of the things you've done for your entire life? Do you ever wonder if there's any meaning behind those things? Any purpose? Perhaps you've wondered if you've wasted your life on things that really don't matter; if you're living up to your full potential. Well, I plan to help you answer that. In doing so, I will post a two-part post--this post and one more tomorrow.

Part One: Come To Jesus

First, I must ask you a very important question. Do you know the Lord? Have you trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? It is very important that you answer that and be certain of your answer before you read any further. The reason for its importance is that it is the first step to figuring out whether or not you're living your life to the fullest.

You see, we were created by God for God. And when God created us, He created us for His honor and His glory; not our own. However, we have all sinned against Him. Now don't think for one second that God created imperfection, or that God is evil because neither one is true. When God created, He created a perfect being. And in that perfect being, He created free-will.

You ask, "Well, if God wanted worship, why didn't He created a person that could do nothing but worship Him?" Well, I'll tell you why. If God had created a being that could only worship Him, that being would be nothing more than a robot--doing only what it was programmed to do. How, a being with perfect freedom can do whatever it sets its mind to do. God didn't want forced worship; He wanted meaningful, heartfelt worship. It means so much more to God when we choose to worship Him because we love Him than it does when worship Him out of obligation.

Anyhow, that being chose to sin--to go his own way. Now, in order to be right with God, we must have a Savior. That Savior is Jesus Christ. Two thousand years ago, He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and then died for the sin of the world. In doing that, He paid the price for our sins. Three days later, He rose from the dead defeating Hell and the grave.

If you have never come to Jesus, I am asking that you do that today. If you don't know Him I can also tell you why you're living the way you're living. You're living the way you're living because Christ is not the ruler of your life--the devil is. You're living the way you're living because you're living for worldly pleasures. However, when you accept Christ, He will change your life and give you a new reason for living.

Life as a Christian is not easy. God is not offering you health, wealth, and prosperity. God is offering you eternal life, and urging you to live righteously. Temptation will come. Persecution will come. However, when they do, God will help you to deal with those things in a way that is pleasing to Him.

Please return tomorrow for the next step in learning why you live the way you do.
